Al-Qaeda Considering Moving from Iraq
"Dubai.The Al-Qaeda network behind some of the deadliest insurgent attacks in Iraq is considering transferring its operations to other countries in the region, Iraq's interior minister said Sunday, AFP reports.
The feared Al-Qaeda group headed by Iraq's most wanted man Abu Musab al-Zarqawi "has started to consider leaving Iraq," Bayan Baqer Sulagh told the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera television.
He said a letter written to Zarqawi by his Al-Qaeda number two Abu Azzam, who US and Iraqi forces said they killed in an operation last month, underlined the network's plans to move to neighbouring countries."

This fits nicely with what the DOD is also saying;
"WASHINGTON, Sept. 29, 2005 - Al Qaeda terrorists hope to drive American influence from the Middle East and install a global Muslim leader in Saudi Arabia, Army Gen. John Abizaid said today."

But this appears to contradict what the military said we must do just yesterday (Oct 1, 2005).
"WASHINGTON -- The U.S. generals running the war in Iraq presented a new assessment of the military situation in public comments and sworn testimony this week: The 149,000 U.S. troops currently in Iraq are increasingly part of the problem.
During a trip to Washington, the generals said the presence of U.S. forces was fueling the insurgency, fostering an undesirable dependency on American troops among the nascent Iraqi armed forces and energizing terrorists across the Middle East."
